The original finishes and details were a product of the early
80s, with interior paneling that created a very dark and oppressive environment. The
Totalplan design team created a solution that included stripping out all the old finishes
and existing lighting and installing a new removable reflective ceiling that not only
allowed access for the service of the air conditioning system, but redirected incoming
natural light to brighten the space. Drywall bulkheads at the perimeter were installed to
emulate the flooring detail which was installed in a flowing curve of two tile surfaces.
The focal point at the end of the hallway is the elevator facade. All materials were
chosen for their durability, safety and cost. Much of the work was coordinated after
hours, as this a heavily used access point to the building.
